Abstract: Keynote Lecture: Modeling of Smart Structures. For many decades the behaviour of smart structures has been the subject of estensive research efforts in the modeling of the multyphisics material behaviour, namely the modeling of the constritutive behaviours - covering piezoelectricity, shape memory effect, magnestrictive and many other effects - the modeling of sensing, actuation, structural control and energy harvesting and the coupling with other fielda as aeroacustics and fluidynamics. Finite element procedures have been implemented for the analysis of these behaviour in support of the design of active and smart devices. While reevaluation of the effort done in the past, for 3D continua and for structures, the session aims at illustrating new steps forward in the modeling of present adaptive and smart structures in the era of big data and AI revolution.
